Each summer, Mother Teresa House has offered University of Notre Dame’s Summer Service Learning Program (SSLP) students the opportunity to help care for our terminally ill guests. This collaboration benefits our guests and volunteers at MTH as well as the students as they address social issues on the frontline:

When I read about Mother Teresa House, I knew that this was the place that I wanted to spend my summer in service to others. I didn’t know much about hospice, or caring for anyone but myself, but there was something that struck me. It gave me the opportunity to have hands-on experience caring for, and entering into genuine relationships with those that I would encounter at the house. It also allowed me to explore an often-overlooked tenant of Catholic social thought– the dignity of life through natural death.
Looking back on my eight weeks, I cannot help but be in awe of how the presence of God has worked through Mother Teresa House.
